Our last Windows Server 2003 machine is almost 8 years old now (HP ProLiant DL360 G4). Since it is no longer covered under warranty, the first step is to virtualize the machine. After using Disk2VHD to convert the physical machine to a .VHDX virtual disk file, I created a new VM in Hyper-V and imported the virtual disk file on our Server 2012 R2 hypervisor. At first boot, I was presented with the following error message:
SERVICE CONTROL MANAGER
At least one service or driver failed during system startup. Use Event Viewer to examine the event log for details.
